I’ll be doing the role of a fortune teller this day for I’ll enumerate four of the tech trends that will probably hit the pearl of the orient this 2010. Instead of reviewing some of the web technologies, popular websites,social networking talks and other tech related phenomenon that shocked 2009, I’ll list a couple of tech meme that might boom this coming year of the tiger.

URL shortening services are one of the places where hackers and malicious users take advantage in spreading havoc. Malwares and phising sites are now that common since URL shortening services have spread. Even so, Google and Facebook will have their own URL shortening service which is good news for users who’s suspicious given a shortened url to click. The service is not mature enough but it’s in good shape, ready to be tested in the future.

Just when I logged in my facebook account a new window appeared to inform me of the new update of facebook’s privacy settings. Although I don’t express my thoughts openly on facebook, I know that Facebook’s privacy settings have deep issues. But I think the new update of Facebook might give the users some assurance.

The rumored facebook connect to be used in myspace could be a reality in the coming year of 2010. The continous decline of active users in MySpace happened tremendously as facebook continous to grow. I’ve checked how MySpace performs after I wrote my google trends guide and it really showed the steady decline of traffic to MySpace and the steady increase of Facebook traffic for the passing days.

Friendster, a social networking site mostly popular to asian countries revamped it’s new interface. I was surprised when I checked it earlier with it’s new login screen and new homepage look. Friendster is much like facebook now, but only with the looks.
