How to Test your Ping the easy way
by Kyle on December 9, 2009
It really sucks if you’ll be playing your favorite online game with so much lag. High Ping means a total disaster if you’re a gamer or just an internet hardcore surfer. Although most people rely too much on the speed of their internet they should care more about the quality of their ISPs ping rate. Ping is basically the amount of time it takes for a packet of data to travel from your own connection to the server and back. So the higher your ping is the more disaster you’ll meet.
The question now is how will I know my ping in connection? And the answer is totally simple, use pingtest for a reliable simulation of your ping rate. I know that many of you know speedtest since it’s probably the most widely used (popular) application to know the speed of your internet connection. Using speedtest will give you a value of your ping but if you want more details then Pingtest is the right application you’re looking for. I just
discovered it when I’m testing my internet speed and I realized that the beta stages are over. PingTest is now officially live and working if you want to know your ISP’s standing in the world. So far I’m satisfied with my current ping results. PingTest outputs 3 kinds of data, percentage of packet loss, the jitter and your ping of course. There are some methods out there which shows you how to know your ping but nothing is more detailed than using pingtest. Care to take some test and share it with me?
