MSI Wind u270 first look
by Kyle on January 12, 2011
MSI’s press event in Taipei displayed some of the must awaited gadget that I think will hit in the local market. And that’s where MSI Wind U270 comes into play. It’s previous line of u250 did not make it in the local market compared to it’s u230 ancestor. So let’s just hope that this MSI Wind u270 will be available in our favorite gadget store which I believe a possibility since the u230 is one of the best seller last 2010.The Wind u270 clocks with the latest 1.6Ghz Zacate processor from AMD which is comparable to core i5-M 520 from Intel. On a side note, competition would be tough for MSI this year, a good example would be Acer’s Aspire 522 which clocks Ontario APU priced below the 20,000Php line here in the Philippines.
For other specs, it has a 11.6″ 1366 X 768 screen solution which is not too small and not too big in my opinion. Storage size varies from 320-500GB and a memory of 4GB max. It also offers a USB 3.0 and a 2 slot USB 2.0. The keys are now chiclet type which is missing in the previous u230 model. The Glossy finish would make it prone to fingerprints in smudges but that would make MSI WIND U270 look awesome if cleaned.
Though MSI is not a big name compared to other players, I truly believe that it delivers what the customer wants. I myself own an MSI netbook (u230) and I enjoyed the quality performance it brings. One thing that caught my attention is this MSI Wind u270 which has the right performance and specs that I’m looking for. Am not a spec whore, I buy what I can fully utilize, am not a gamer so contrary to most what people like(laptops/notebook) a netbook is what I really need.

[...] It’s not just great design and form factor but increase in data transfer as well. Silicon-Power from Taiwan manufactured a truly stylish external hdd and could be one of the first external HDDs that goes with USB 3.0 connectivity. Most devices here in the Philippines does not support USB 3.0 but this 2011 might be the start of various devices that goes USB 3.0 compatibility with the launch of the latest devices from different manufacturers. It’s the first time I’ve heard of Silicon Power as a manufacturer and a quick look at their web page pleased me with some interesting details of their products. Hope to see their appearance in the local market since I’ve been fan of taiwanese based products such as MSI laptops. [...]
