Samsung Series 5 and Acer Chromebook – First Official Chrome OS notebooks
by Kyle on May 11, 2011
I never had the chance to be selected to get a review unit of the early CR-48 notebooks from Google so I got not idea on what it feels to use a chrome OS. But I guess in just a few months I’ll be seeing chrome os in stores in the form of Samsung Series 5 and Acer Chromebook.
It’s interesting that Google I/O opened up another new branch for notebook lovers to explore a different experience on their wired life. Releasing notebooks like Samsung Series 5 and Acer Chromebook may give you a different perspective on your daily computing use if you’re tired of using windows and not enticed with MAC. No official release date yet but I expect it to be in local stores 3-4 months from now. I just wonder on how will these two stand on the market especially how tablets trend and early netbooks and laptops decline.
So far the specs are pretty standard as both are powered with Dual Core 1.6ghz Intel processors . For Acer Chromebook it is unsure if it will have a Solid State Drive (16gb) similar to Samsung Series 5. And no definite information on their memory capacity (2gb) was given on their press release. Anyway if you’re one of those early adopters wanting to get the Samsung Series 5, it will available in the US in June. If you’re curious to know, here’s a brief specs of the two laptops. On a side note Samsung Series 5 got a 0.79in thickness just as thin as the Samsung Series 9 and Macbook Air.
