It’s hard to tell on when will facebook implement their new line of photo tagging which automatically tags your friends in your picture. Facebook’s photo tagging  is one of the most used feature on their platform. Power users who maintains large collection of albums will be happy if facebook’s new line of photo product is successful on it’s release. If you’re part of the group which owns large albums this will be good news for you as this will decrease the tedious amount of time in tagging names in pictures.

I just wonder what privacy measures will d implement if ever their product under test will be successful. It will of course generate positive feedback but for some users who values their private life then this is a big factor. Anyway Facebook is smart enough on dealing this concerns but imperfections can’t be avoided. If you are techy enough on how the system works then it’s not a problem for you. But for people who hardly knows how to use user settings then it’s a big problem for them. Let’s just see how facebook’s photo tagging matures and see what people’s reaction are.

Thinking of a way to add your blog or a web page in your facebook fan page or facebook user profile? Perhaps you’ve been thinking of some advanced stuff, like learning how to program to make this happen. The good news is you can do it without any programming experience or advance configurations or tweaking to have your very own customized facebook tab of your blog/site in your profile.

Tabsite is a service that let’s you customize your facebook profile and let’s you add a customized facebook tab in your user profile or page. You just need to register and go to your tabsite account and publish the page you made and it would appear in your profile automatically.

Although this appears very easy, There’s some annoying details that you might want to know. Tabsite offers a free service of adding tabs but the tabs are hardly noticeable because the main tab is titled as “Tab Site”.

This feature is for the free service and there’s more promising features in the pro which you can avail for as low as 5$/month. The content Manager is a wysiwyg editor which you can input some details and content of your blog. Anyway please make sure to check out their instructions on how to setup your facebook account because you might miss the right setting of enabling Tabsite tabs.

Anyway I have to say a big thanks to the maker of this hilarious presentation, no other than The Oatmeal. If you love the presentation, then you’ll surely love more of his/her work.

You can manually input your facebook friend’s birthday in your google calendar or you can do it smartly by using fbCAL. One of the my favorite applications in facebook because it associates your facebook calendar to one of the popular event planning,calendar software and web applications available. So if you don’t like the feel of using Google Calendar then you can choose other applications in which you can  import the data.

First go to fbcal’s official website and click the button “Create your calendars Now“. Use your facebook account to login in fbCal and allow it to access your profile information and offline access.

When you’re in the main application you can choose two options. export your events and export the birthdays. Click the corresponding logo of Google Calendar and you’re done. There are times when fbCal’s export function doesn’t work so just download a copy of it and import the iCalendar File in your Google Calendar by going to Settings -> Calendar Tab -> Import Calendar. Choose the Downloaded iCalendar File  then wait for this confirmation to show. If unsuccessful repeat the import process until you got it right.

Q. How do I attach Links, Photos and other items to be shared to my friends?

A. There’s an attach section just below the text form which you can use to attach links,photos and videos. If you want to share embeddable content the “link” button is the right one to choose.

Q. Can I have my own customize facebook link which redirects to my profile page?

A. You can! just go to www.facebook.com/username and you can have your own customized facebook link so your friends can easily remember your profile page.

Q. When  I hover my mouse pointer to a picture, a name pops up, how can I do that?

A. The feature is called photo tagging and you can do it by clicking the “Tag this photo” at the lower right corner of the picture or at the right side of the comment page. Once clicked photo tagging is enabled and you can start clicking faces and select a predetermined name from a popup window. After that click “Done Tagging” to finally end the process.

Q. How do I filter the contents of my wall so It will just show up status updates, or just links?

A. At the left sidebar of facebook there’s an option there which you can select to filter out what type of content do you want to see in your wall. Clicking the “more” at the bottom of the sidebar gives you more option such as notes, videos and other popular applications.

Q. My friends use different applications and games in facebook where can I found and browse them?

A. Applications are really popular in facebook especially the games if you want to release some stress and find some time to unwind. To browse and look for different applications look at the toolbar at the bottom and click “Applications“. It will pop a window and look for the browse applications menu. Then just use the search form or the categories in the sidebar

Q. How can I create a Facebook Fan Page?

A. Facebook fan page is accessible in the static toolbar you’ll find at the bottom of your home page. If you want to create one, simply click the overlapping facebook logo and green icon. Once there look at the upper part of the page and click the “create a page”. The next steps are pretty straight forward. If you want to manage the page you made just click again overlapping facebook logo and green colored shape and it will bring you to your list of pages.

Q. The notifications are clogging my inbox in my email account, How can I disable it?

A. In your homepage look at the upper right corner and click Settings -> Account Settings and then look for the notifications tab. Once there,  just uncheck the list of services you want to disable. You can also start receiving notifications in your mobile phone if you want. Just click the mobile phone logo and enter some details asked by facebook.

Facebook Connect lets third party web sites access Facebook user data and site features, like sharing activity from other sites to its news feed home page — the idea is that Connect helps other sites get more social, and drives traffic between them and Facebook. For MySpace, as with any other web site, integration with Connect does not necessarily mean there is any special business relationship with Facebook.

Although Myspace states that there’s no special business relationship with Facebook, we can clearly see that MySpace is in the verge of accepting defeat with it’s new vision of being more like a social entertainment.

For those unfamiliar with Facebook (is there anyone other than me in that set?) the thumbnail of the worm’s infective page is a link to the page. The worm’s objective, of course, is that others viewing the victim’s wall will click the link, and as they are logged into Facebook, the worm will propagate its link to that victim’s wall, and so on…

This worm uses what is technically known as a CSRF (Cross-site Request Forgery, also called XSRF) attack. A sequence of iframes on the exploit page call a sequence of other pages and scripts, eventually resulting in a form submission to Facebook “as if” the victim had submitted a URL for a wall post and clicked on the “Share” button to confirm the post.

Anyway if you’ve been lured there’s nothing to be worried of. It’s not a desctructive worm in which it can delete an account, It just spam some sexy messages but still it’s better not to click the button.

1. Digsby – One of the pioneers of All-in-One chat clients. It’s diverse support to vast social networking sites and instant messengers made it one of the best alternatives if you are having a collection of Instant Messengers and Social Networks.
2. Flock – The social web brower enabling you to chat with your friends in facebook without staying to facebook homepage. You have to log in with your facebook account first before you enable the chat system in it. You can also use it to check your tweets to if you have one.
3. Scrapboy - a new multi-puropose tool for social networks. It supports Orkut,Facebook and MySpace to do some of the functionalities of the said networks. If you are into these three social networks Scrapboy is a desktop application that will definitely suit your needs.
4. Gabtastik – A Site Specific Browser which can be integrated in your desktop. Gabtastik lets you keep chat sessions open on your desktop outside of your regualr web browser using minimal screen real estate and system memory. Available to Windows users and supports Facebook and Google talk.
5. Fluid – Another Site Specific Browser for Fellow MAC users. Provides great solutions to most web applications basic needs including facebook chat and email connectivity.Fluid gives any WebApp a home on your Mac OS X desktop complete with Dock icon, standard menu bar, logical separation from your other web browsing activity, and many, many other goodies.
6. Palringo – Supports Facebook chat in alpha stage but works perfectly even if it’s new. It’s another all-in-one chat client similar to digsby hich you can download and get connected to most social networks and Instant Messengers available around. You can also purchase the Palringo Application in your iPhone
7. Trillian – Trillian is Digsby’s greatest rival in all-in-one chat clients which supports varied features like digsby itself. The much improved User interface in Trillian’s latest release prove to be another aspect worth noting for. It also works perfectly with twitter.
8. Adium – Free instant messagin application for MAC OS X that can connect to AIM,MSN,Jabber,Yahoo and more (including Facebook chat).
9. Meebo – Although you need to be in their website, meebo is a good addition in using Facebook chat. You can connect to Yahoo and other Insant messenger clients without doing any downloads.

Watch out for two new viruses that are spreading across the web. They involve emails made to look like they are from Facebook telling you to take some action on your account. Remember that we will never send you a new password as an attachment.

If you’re a facebook user, take some time to review the security policy and remember to never trust anyone if it involves your login details. Trusted sites do not ask for any login information for their site improvement and updates. I think facebook should fix some of the privacy settings in the user account.
