The continous decline of active users in MySpace happened tremendously as facebook continous to grow. I’ve checked how MySpace performs after I wrote my google trends guide and it really showed the steady decline of traffic to MySpace and the steady increase of Facebook traffic for the passing days.

Facebook Connect lets third party web sites access Facebook user data and site features, like sharing activity from other sites to its news feed home page — the idea is that Connect helps other sites get more social, and drives traffic between them and Facebook. For MySpace, as with any other web site, integration with Connect does not necessarily mean there is any special business relationship with Facebook.

Although Myspace states that there’s no special business relationship with Facebook, we can clearly see that MySpace is in the verge of accepting defeat with it’s new vision of being more like a social entertainment.

Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg says “Myspace could become a Facebook Connect partner- which would allow people to share content they liked from MySpace with their Facebook Network” via the Telegraph. The rise of facebook can clearly be seen, I myself has been addicted to facebook because of it’s rich features and the ability to interact with your friends and relatives is truly amazing, MySpacewas not my cup of tea for me, even though it’s one of the pioneers of social networking sites it’s charisma and appeal to the public is not that strong compared to Facebook. I still imagined the social networking fanatics those days who use myspace as their online hangouts, boasting their profiles and enriching them with their great videos and music but now it’s clearly deminishing.

MySpace tends to be more defensive in a manner that they are planning to share their catalouges through facebook connect. This of course clearly mean one thing, Partnership with facebook will be the solution for it’s deminishing popularity. But what might be their solution could be their downfall in the future. The use of Facebook Connect in my own opinion will make people love facebook more. If they’re just targeting sharing their content then people will love the contents not it’s platform. So my implication with this one is that, Facebook will clearly triumph over MySpace as time flies. This is just my opinion and nobody can see the future, who knows? perhaps it might be the biggest turn around if MyBook(kinda cool name) connect will be implemented in the future.
