I’ve been thrilled by this one since it’s just more than a month for HTC Desire S to be available in local market upon it’s introduction in public. Now if the trend continues then this HTC ChaCha or HTC Flyer which I’ve been getting back may have the same time gap for it’s release.

HTC Desire S from it’s looks and functionalities is like the original Desire which everyone loved. From my own point of view, Desire’s one of the most wonderful smartphone that HTC bought into the public which has the balance of affordability, power and looks.

Now that HTC Desire S comes they put incremental improvements having that light and slim aluminum unibody chassis, better battery life and a good doze of hardware and software upgrades. For those who’re looking for specs here’s what you want.

My addiction for blackberry devices especially the blackberry style 9670 yields to discovery of another smartphone worth owning. I don’t know if there’s faith in waiting but it seems that LG Quantum would attract smartphone enthusiasts dying to have a hybrid touch and qwerty feel in one single device. Discovering it happens by accident when I’m looking for a youtube video of how a blackberry device with BB OS 6 looks. It turns out that the attractive UI of Windows Phone 7 is the reason on why I take a second look and the next thing I wanted to do is writing about LG Quantum here in my blog.

We all know how Windows Phone 7 OS demands and just like what other WP7 handsets, LG Quantum is not an exception. Most Filipinos had bad experience with Windows Mobile 6.X but as I’ve said Windows Phone 7 is completely different which sets it on similar league to Android and iOS. Anyway, I won’t be reporting the details of this phone so here’s the specs of the phone if you’re interested in looking at it.

LG Quantum C900 specs

I have to give credits to intomobile for the video above for featuring the capabilities of the phone. Let’s just wish that this phone had the chance to appear in the local market. I’ve been fan of hybrid qwerty+touch phones and given a chance to review LG Quantum C900. I’ll be willing to devote my time to check it’s ins and outs.

On a side note if you’ve been looking for cheap Android phones, then you gotta check out this Huawei Ideos U8150 from globe. And for the multimedia addicts, Sony Xperia Neo is something worth looking for. LG Optimus 3D also boasts augmented reality which you can’t find to mainstream phones. But if you just want the phone that works with all the bells and whistles ignored, I suggest getting a blackberry as it does have the core functionality you’ll be using with great performance and straight forward UI.

This time it’s LG Optimus 3D which highlights it’s 3D photo capture and video playback. It’s also the first smartphone to have dual camera at the back which is used to create 3D photos and videos. LG’s been active in the local martket and is up for releasing several LG Optimus series for the coming days, though the LG Optimus 3D is late it’s expected for the phone to be part of the market.

If you’re thinking if this phone is non-functional without the 3D glasses then you’re definitely wrong as it’s the same with the Nintendo 3DS which runs without the glasses. Specs-wise it’s impressive and it would appeal most to multimedia people looking for something different on their phones but the price would be on the high end too. Here’s a round of specs of this much anticipated phone for the 3D addicts.

I was thinking that this is probably the first smartphone that was engineered by a Filipino and it seems that SMART is leveraging this idea to gain a strong footing to smartphone industry. Branded as “NetPhone“, Smart announced in Mobile World Congress it’s very first smartphone with pinoy app hidden inside, and that would be your very sulit Jollibee app which you can only get if you purchase a NetPhone.

Again I would like to clarify that the phone itself is not pinoy made. But it’s existence is due to collaborated effort of telcos, application developers and handset manufacturers united with the name of WAC or Wholesales Application Community. If you’re asking on what country is the phone manufactured then I can’t answer it yet but my guess would be China or Taiwan. Let’s just hope that the specs is good enough to entice local consumers looking for a uniquely designed phone. Powered with Android 2.2 and strong integration of Social Networking Sites may be one of the good selling points of this one. You can get this phone only in smart so if you’re eager to get one then be sure to watch out for their announcements which I will post here in my blog. This really looks good in the local industry as it open up healthy competition in the market. Let’s just wait for Globe’s Answer in case they have some goodies hidden in their sleeves.

Kyocera’s Echo may not come in the Philippines but it’s still worth a look because it’s one of the first android Smartphone with dual screen. It may surprise on what functionality it brings because of the dual screen, but aside from a much bigger display it also adds appeal if you’ll be walking with it across the street. Duality in the field of IT brings a much better performance if you associate it into hardware and it seems that Kyocera is proving something that this may work if it’s integrated into display. So far I haven’t seen anyone with dual screen smartphone similar to Echo, so this may be the first smartphone in the market which has the dual screen display. If you happen to know a dual screen smartphone then please hit the comment section to update this post. So far the specs is impressive if you’ll be comparing it to mainstream phones.

The Two 3.5″ display (480 X 800) is definitely it’s bread and butter. Running under a 1ghz would be more than enough to play youtube videos if you’re bored with your facebook account. I still don’t know if it’s upgradeable to 2.3 Gingerbread update since it’s using the current Android 2.2 release. Price for the Echo is $199 and is only available on Sprint (Sorry Philippines). If you’re planning to buy a smartphone anyway then perhaps the LG Optimus Series or the new release of Samsung Galaxy Ace would interest you. And lastly the rundown of specs if you want to scrutinized the device…

. Wi-Fi hotspot capability, which supports wireless connections for up to five devices
. 5-megapixel camera with flash, autofocus and digital zoom
. 720p HD camcorder to quickly capture those on-the-go memorable moments
. Corporate (Exchange ActiveSync®) and personal (POP & IMAP) e-mail, IM (Google Talk™), text messaging
. Media player with a 3.5 mm stereo headset jack
Why is that? Simply because it’s china made. There’s no released information on the price of this phone but I expect it to be cheaper than it’s competitors. Huawei is a big name here in the Philippines, primarily because it’s one of the manufacturers of Broadband dongles from the big telcos. Cherry Mobile for example appeared from nowhere and is now one of the biggest distributors of cheap phones which is perfect for the masses. Here’s a brief specs of Huawedi Ideos X5 which may be released in the future.

It runs Android 2.2 (Froyo) but it’s still unclear if Huawei will provide updates for it to the much improved Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). Clearly Huawei Ideos X5 doesn’t look and feel cheap with it’s great processing power and a dedicated GPU. The glossy screen gives it a tasteful look which is perfect for the classy 11mm thickness. For one reason i felt doubtful in the responsiveness of the Ideos X5 despite it’s capacitive screen which is common to issue to china phones but I’ve been surprised to it upon seeing it’s video. Huawei Ideos X5 is a new player in the game and for sure more smartphones coming from them will be released this 2011. Huawei Ideos X5 is surely made with great craftsmanship yet the quality is still in question. China Phones will still be China Phones and that’s one hurdle that Huawei will have to face especially that there are good entry level smartphones coming in the market like this Nokia C5-03 having a cheap price w/ proven quality. Anyway here’s a good quick look of Huawei Ideos X5 in action.

The year’s just beginning and Samsung have plans now to take over the smartphone market with it’s Samsung Infuse 4G. A massive 4.5″ Super AMOLED is what makes it a beast, this makes Samsung Infuse 4G reach new heights because of an increase sub-pixel count of 50%. Dual core processors are totally ready but the 1.2Ghz Hummingbird processor is just right for speedy processing which won’t hurt for the overall experience. Attached on the back of Samsung Infuse 4G is a superb 8.0 megapixel camera making it a good substitute for a digicam if you don’t have one.

Despite it’s great specification, Samsung Infuse 4G runs on Android 2.2 OS (Froyo) which could have been better if it is to be launched running the much improved Gingerbread (2.3). Other specs includes the usual 802.11 b/g/n and the 3G Connectivity. But of course, not to ruin it’s name, HSPA+ is what brings 4G on it’s label. There’s also the USB 3.0 and 2.0 combo for the download addicts which completes the full bundle. It’s available in the US which is part of AT&T plan. It’s not yet available in the Philippines so the best thing you can do is to dream on it. My guess would be that GLOBE will be bringing home the bacon to bring Samsung Infuse 4G in the local market much like the previous Galaxy S series. It seems that Samsung is going strong now in the Philippines especially that the awaited release of the Samsung series 9 laptops are driving the enthusiasts with the specs.

It’s been a hard year for Nokia last year of 2010 because of the increase in competition in smartphone market. Despite it’s low priced phones and a variety of options from entry-level to mainstream phones they still had a hard time selling most of their products. Am not a hard-core nokia user yet I own one for my personal needs. They’re still the best choice in choosing the right phone that fits your work because of the price and the varied choices. A good example for the phone I’m talking about is the C3, great form factor and excellent for messaging, just perfect for the typical teenager who needs a handy device for communicating with friends and family members. Now that Nokia C5-03 is out this 2011 then perhaps will be seeing a good substitute for an entry level smartphone having the old school S60 OS.It may sound absurd but I still see Nokia to have a strong base in gaining a big portion of the local market. Mid Range to High End Smartphones are really cool but you’ll be spending a huge amount of cash to own one. Nokia C5-03 fills the gap of owning a smartphone without hurting your budget. It’s just nice to see that C5-03 had the basic capabilities that filipinos love w. Here’s a brief Summary of Nokia C5-03…

Dimensions: 105.8 x 51 x 13.8 mm

Weight: 93 grams

Platform: Symbian OS S60 5th edition

Display: 640 x 360 pixel resolution, 16 million color support, resistive touch screen

Memory: 40 MB internal storage, micro SD card slot up to 16 GB

Connectivity: 3G, GPS, stereo Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, hi-speed micro USB 2.0 port, USB charging, SIM connector, 3.5 mm connector, Wi-Fi

Camera: 5.0 mega pixel

Talk time: 11.5 hours (2G), 4.7 hours (3G)

Stand by time: 25 days (2G), 24.5 days (3G)

Nokia C5-03′s vivid display is probably the most appealing feature of the phone. It has the excellent UI which complements with the large display. You’ll definitely know that it’s a smartphone base from it’s look. The glossy casing attracts too much fingerprint and smudges so owning a good case or protector would be necessary for power users. I’ll assume that the touch screen would be also good since I had a good experience with nokia resistive touch screen phones like the X3-02 which is truly responsive in my opinion. Estimated price for Nokia C5-03 here in the Philippines would be 10,000 Php which is totally cheap. Compared to Android, Nokia C5-03 would be a laugh. But if you just want some good introductory smartphone experience then you’ll never get wrong with it.

Blackberry is known for it’s great QWERTY phones and great form factor. I envy those users who brings their blackberry phone doing some touch typing while strolling in the mall or just sending message in the MRT. I wish I could have one and I wish it’s the newest blackberry style also known as blackberry 9670. Unlike the previous blackberry realeases, blackberry style is different cause it’s probably the first fliptop phone of Blackberry. I first assumed that they’ll gonna drop the QWERTY keypad but to my surprise they preserved the distinguishing RIM keyboards. FlipTops or clamshell design are prone for damages on the hinges of the phone, so it’s one of the reasons why most Filipinos dislikes fliptops. But hey! we are talking to blackberry here, So let’s give a blackberry an exception to this.

Well, the specs talks pretty much of Itself and blackberry style packs with RIM’s newest Blackberry OS6. Previous devices of the blackberry Lineups is bundled with the old OS5 and only a few are readily available for upgrades. One thing you’ll notice is that it have an external display which you can use to put a shortcut once you flipped up the phone. Cam whores will definitely love blackberry style as the 5.0 megapixel camera at the back is more than enough to keep you busy in taking pictures of yourself. Other than that, It has a built in GPS and WIFI and from what I know it’s pre installed apps contains the popular social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter to keep yourself entertained. Blackberry style is not yet available in the Philippines but if you really want it badly you can get this one in the US for a 99$ plan in Sprint. Right now, GLOBE blackberry plans does not include the blackberry style so you really have to wait for it here in local market. Though the grey market is a good place to start looking for it, I highly doubt if that’s in good quality. My price estimate if this comes out locally would be 22k – 24k and to get this for free on globe then it would be on the plan 2500 (just an estimate).

I’ve been craving for a blackberry because of it’s great form factor and it’s qwerty keypad is the perfect thing to me for a mobile blogging if I’m out at home. Well, android is a good choice too but touchscreen’s not my type. The start of blackberry trend has been on the hype right now and I’m glad to see the smartphone market here is blooming here in the Philippines. I better start saving my cash now because of this phone or just wait if there are better options that will come out in the future. I’ll be updating more about it if Blackberry style is readily available locally.

I was very ignorant at first upon seeing this pomegranate phone in the internet making it one of the coolest gadget in my list that I want to have. Upon seeing the site which promotes the mobile handheld, I thought that this phone was the coolest thing ever. Their marketing seems very realistic with it’s videos displaying some of it’s unique features. But then I realize that the phone never existed in reality, that it was just pure marketing of a place called Nova Scotia. Just then I stumbled this cellphone pictures in Facebook which was posted by one of my friends.

I thought this was worth a share and and a cool thing to blog for so here are some of the pictures of what they call a window-phone. In my own perspective It’s better to call it a glass phone because it imitates glass properties when used in the surroundings. To sum it up this thing never exists, and I’m sorry if it crashed your dream in owning this one.

It was funny that viewers in smile panic believed that this thing is already out in the market. But the truth is it never really exists, if it is then this one would give steve jobs nightmares. This will dominate smartphone market for sure, the interface is more than just an eye candy but a smashing hit. I have to give a two thumbs up to the original creator of this picture, It was truly an art. Well, nobody can tell what the future is up to. Perhaps a super cool glassphone is not too far till this thing is in the hands of mankind
