Missing certain events? Being forgetful in greeting your friend’s birthday? Always not on time with your date? I think what you need is a carefully organized event calendar with the help of Google .

We will not be using Google’s search engine. Instead, we will use it’s Google Calendar as an SMS notification tool to keep you notified in certain events, birthday greetings and other things related to that. I’m assuming you now have a Google account to be used in Google Calendar. Log in using your account and get familiar with the interface.

The Main interface is like a big spreadsheet where you will input your scheduled greetings and plans. If you don’t understand a thing in the spreadsheet then perhaps it’s defaulted to weekly mode. You can adjust it by clicking the daily tab above the spreadsheet in the upper right corner of it. You can then click the spreadsheet to add your plans or use the links in the upper left corner for an added degree of customization.

When you are done with the preliminaries all you have to do is integrate Google calendar to your mobile phone. Click the Settings link in the upper right corner and go to mobile setup. Carefully input the fields needed and wait for the confirmation code to be sent in your mobile account. Submit your mobile code and enable SMS notifications to your events and plans. As of my experience Google does not charge you of the sms sent to you, so you can abuse the service without worry any fees.

I believe that everybody knows how important backing up online data is. I truly understand that storing an extra copy of online data is not a basic thing to do but an essential task that everyone should be aware of. The existence of different social media applications and online accounts have boomed the internet and more people rely on it. Google’s services for example is such a great thing, having a free gmail account, free blog and a free office tool(google docs) is a great blessing. Although I haven’t experienced any problems with regards to data loss in using different google applications and other web applications provided by different companies, I always make sure that I have an online backup of my data. The only problem with this is that organizing it is such a hassle. The good thing is that there’s now a solution for a hassle free backup management.

Backing up online data using another online service is the easiest and most hassle free thing you can do. That’s where Backupify comes, where organization of your backup data is just child’s play when you use them.

Registration is fairly easy, just a couple of minutes in filling up forms and then you’re done. You can choose if you want to use your own Amazon S3 account or you can choose the free one. You’ll then be taken to your dashboard which shows the services you can easily integrate in backupify. The interface is really easy, the moment you see it you’ll definitely know what to do. I took a screenshot to the Regular Service that Backupify is currently supporting without any problems.

I’m totally impressed how backupify integrates the services above to make backing up data an easy task. If you click the “Manage” link you’ll have the option of adding several accounts that you want to backup. You just provide the password and username in some applications or authenticate some service for it to work. Take note that you’re in the settings page in managing the service. To view your backup files you have to go to the archive page and select the account you want to view.

Your first backup will take a couple of hours to see in the archive page. The schedule of backing up data can be set in a weekly or daily basis with an email to notify you that a backup is made.

Backupify is currently in beta and their service is totally free until January 31st. At the time of this writing there’s a total of 13 service you can use ( including beta service) and 4 services listed that backupify will support in the near future. Start using Backupify now and experience what kind of service they offer. I know you won’t regret it the moment you use Backupify.

Social Networking Giant Facebook gives more ways to developers to become more productive in the future. Features and functionality will be enriched in the future as stated in the facebook developer blog when they released their new roadmap for the coming days.

For new and experienced developers it’s a great chance for them to create new ideas based from the roadmap they released. Although it’s still far from implementation, I bet that newbies are getting interested in learning to make facebook applications and some facebook integration in their web projects. More and more websites are now getting connected to facebook and I believe that this trend will continue to rise.

Heres a detailed explanation of the new developer products and clear policies copied from facebook developer blog.

Open Graph API. Any page on the Web can have many of the features of a Facebook Page – users can become a Fan of the page, it will show up on that user’s profile and in search results, and that page will be able to publish stories to the stream of its fans.

Improved Application Insights Page and new Analytics API. We will provide improved tools with more robust data to better adjust and manage applications and Facebook Connect-enabled websites.

New Facebook Connect Libraries. Our libraries will be smaller, clearer, and faster.

New developer website, Platform Live Status, and public roadmap. Developers.facebook.com will include a central dashboard to view the health of various integration points, bugs and Platform uptime as well as detail about upcoming changes and improvements to Platform. You will also be able to subscribe to the Developer Blog and Status Feed via email.

New principles, simplified policies, Verification standards for all. We have streamlined our policies and principles and will be proactively applying them widely across Platform. In addition, we’re retiring the formerly optional Application Verification brand, submission process, fees and badge; the program’s higher standards will be required and applications will be subject to review at any time.
