Here’s a short video tutorial in order to do this trick.

Credits goes to the screencaster of the video. It’s not mine so kudos to the one who made it. It’s a pretty good trick and a very helpful one in case you forgot to turn off your pc.

Blogger platform has been the training grounds of newbie bloggers in the Blogosphere. Some stick to blogger while others migrate to a more mature one. The user friendliness of the blogger platform is undeniable, I have to admit it’s one of the easiest place to start blogging. If you’ve been a blogger user before you probably know some hacks and tricks associated in improving your blog. Without a doubt, hacks and tricks are very important in the aspect of gaining an audience and improving the looks of your blog. Anyway here’s a good list of my blogger hacks and tricks I know during my blogspot days.

1. Read more hack – The younger days of blogger blogs will give you the hassle of tweaking the custom html code of your blog. But the new blogger blog has a feature of read more… similar to wordpress. You can add the read more section by adding the <!– more –> comment in the “Edit Html” section of your post editor or clicking the read more editor to the new post editor of blogger.

2. New post editor – One of the things I hate about blogspot is their post editor, it sucks really bad. The new post editor can be used by going to Settings -> Basic -> Post Editor section. The new post editor performs much better than the old one but still it still sucks to me.

3. Title Tag Hack – The title tag hack enables you to have an Search Engine friendly titles. I’ve posted an article here before describing how you can do it. You can check it out here.

4. Wibiya Toolbar – It’s the newest dig I found a couple of months ago and it’s one of my must-haves in my blogger blog. Adding the wibiya toolbar will do the work of adding the recent posts section, visitor notifier, Social bookmarking,Social Network Integration(Twitter,Facebook), language translation and RSS feeds subscription.

5. Google Integrated Search box – You can easily add your own google custom search box now, The widget is available if you click “Add Gadget” in your blog interface. The cool thing about this is that search results are displayed inside your blog and no redirection need.

6. Favicon – Yeah! that’s right the big “B” logo near the address bar and title tab is an eye sore to some. Adding your own favicon makes your blog look professional and cool. To add a favicon go to “Edit Html” in the layout section of your blog and look for this code “</b:skin>” (exclude quotation marks) and paste the code below after the “</b:skin>”

<link href=’REPLACE YOUR IMAGE LINK HERE’ rel=’shortcut icon’/>

5. LinkWithin – One of my favorites too aside from the Wibiya toolbar. This improves your content visibility since the thumbnails of images in your post makes it good looking and thus improving Click Through Rate in your blog.

6. Commenting Systems – Intense Debate and Disqus thus it all for you from managing spams and informing you of new arrivals. The Facebook Connect helps a lot^^

7. Embedit Tool – Embeds doc, docx, xls, xlsx, ppt, pptx, pdf, wpd, odt, ods, odp, txt, rtf, csv and html file formats. And they can download the emded file in your blog too.

8. The Floating Button hack – You can have a “Follow us”,”Feedback”,”Contact Me” floating button with your blog by going to Layout -> Add Gadget -> HTML/JAVASCRIPT and putting the code below and replacing the links needed.

<a style=”display:scroll;position:fixed;center:5px;right:5px;” href=”INPUT YOUR LINK” title=”Feedback Please”><img src=”IMAGE OF YOUR CHOICE HOSTED” />

9. Apture – One of the newest hack/plugin you can have. It beautify your posts and adds wonderful effects to links and other types of media. This is a must have. I even use it here in my blog

10. Email Subscription Form - For good traffic conversions you definitely need this one. You can add this hack by logging in to your Feedburner account(Register if you don’t have one). Click on the “My feeds” at the top page and click your blog that you registered with your Feedburner account.Click Publicize Tab and Email Subscriptions option and choose Feedburner radio button as the service to provide the email subscriptions. Choose your settings under subscription management. Click Activate and copy the code which is generated, go to your layout section of your blog and click Add Gadget -> HTML/JAVASCRIPT and paste the code you copied and Save.

Fanbox is another social networking site much like friendster. If you dislike friendster because of it’s features much like I do then you probably thinking of not registering the social networking services that fanbox offers. That’s the initial reaction of most users if they were to be introduced to another social networking site but I think you’ll think twice once you know that Fanbox offers a unique blogging service that pays you $5 to each reader subscribed in your blog.

fanbox interface

If you’ll take a look at the picture above, you might think that it’s a screenshot of a windows O.S. desktop. But if you dig in closer you’ll realize that the components are different. I cropped the picture from the original one and it belongs to my Fanbox profile page which you will get if you register to their site. The interface is kinda unique and it’s fun to experiment once you registered to Fanbox. It’s definitely a desktop inside your browser with the looks and features similar to a windows operating system. If you are curious enough on how much Fanbox subscribers earn blogging in their site here’s a screenie which I got in their site. Don’t get fooled by the premium blog title in the table header, you don’t need to pay anything if you register in their site

blog earnings

Maybe there’s one question that bothers you right now, How come that Fanbox is willing to pay $5 to each subscribed reader in your blog? You’ll be thinking that this is just a scam of some sort, retrieving your passwords once you registered in their site. Well the truth is Fanbox is not a scam but relies mostly to mobile subscribers. Take a look on what I’ve found at the bottom of their site

Definition of Reader: A user that subscribes to a Premium Blog, causing a payment transaction to be successfully processed by the user’s mobile carrier and remitted to MobileGuard. Some users are not subscribers of mobile networks that are currently billable by MobileGuard; and some transactions are invalid and/or uncollectable due to insufficient funds, bad credit, user spending caps, carrier network issues and leakage, chargebacks, claims, or refunds.

This just means that Fanbox is not a scam and would pay you lots of cash when you provide interesting reading to your subscribers. What really good about this is that you don’t need some SEO to advertise your blog in fanbox. The only thing you need to do is follow the instructions because there’s an application there which will do the dirty work of advertising your blog. Here’s the site if you want to know more details about Fanbox.

Note: The method I used in this article is not used using my twitter account you see in my sidebar. This method is completely whitehat and is not considered a spam. You can really earn money on twitter by just following the methods I mentioned.

Twitter is one of the most popular sites in the internet. People use twitter mostly for micro blogging, sending daily twits to their followers not knowing that they can do more than that. Little do they know that twitter is more than just sending daily tweets but as a tool for earning lots of money online. If you’re an internet marketer or the kind of a person who’s been around in the internet for so long you probably know what I’m talking about earning $$$ in twitter. For the newbies out there, I won’t be stingy to tell you the methods I know on how you can use twitter to fatten up your wallet. I’ll tell you later on this post on how you can make your daily tweets a living cash machine.

If you are thinking that this is a scam you’re definitely wrong, many people are utilizing twitter to earn extra income and most likely they don’t share their ways on how they do it. So if you kinda stumble this article, you’re in great luck. The concept behind this is to have massive amounts of followers in your account and from there the quest of earning money is easy. The first step is to make a twitter account, if possibly register a new email and use it to register on twitter. From there we concentrate on gaining tons and tons of followers on twitter. The truth is if you really want to have massive followers there are many sites there that offers massive following but what I’m showing you here is the most effective by far, without affecting the efficiency of earning money. Sites like twitterfollower, twollow or twit-follower makes things easy but people who use these sites are mostly people who also wants to earn money online just like you or some use twitter but not as active as hardcore twitter users used to be.

To have massive followers, you start to the most simple step, use the search box and type in keywords and follow the people who tweets normally. What I mean by twitting normally is that they belong to the category who’s not promoting a site or product. If you follow these people they will follow you too. On this way you eliminate spam followers, Of course this one is very time consuming and would give you just a hundred of followers in a few days time. Well you are definitely right so I’ll give you a good tip on how you can get massive amounts of followers without the hassle of typing keywords in the search box. The simplest method is to look for the twitter profiles of celebrities, athletes or any person you know that is popular, I suggest that you start to the celebrities in your local place since they have less followers compared to international superstars. From there go their profile page and click the link containing their followers. Follow the followers who follows the celebrities, be very choosy to the one you are following and eliminate spam-followers as possible. Do this method everyday as much as possible be very patient and work double time. I assure you that you’ll reap the rewards of following non-spammy persons.

Now that you have massive amount of followers the easy part comes along. Sign up for monetization sites that offers to pay you by sending tweets. I won’t discuss the details on how you will use the sites since there are instructions in the sites I’ll mention. I suggest that you sign up for RevTwt and TweetBucks as a starting point if you’re a complete beginner. This service is a pay per click style of marketing, this means that when someone clicks the link of your tweet you earn a money from each link they click. Imagine now, you got 20k followers then they all click on 6 links,Boom you earn really fast . The other method in which you can earn money is the affiliate method in which affiliate marketers use. Clickbank is by far one of the best affiliates you can use. The concept is that you provide a link that clickbank provides in their marketplace and then tweet that link to your followers, if the follower bought the product you advertise then you earn a revenue from it. This marketing strategy works big time but mostly your followers won’t buy the product so the best chance in having more sales is to expand your followers. There are also other ways in which you can earn money aside from the two monetization strategies I mentioned but for now let’s stop at this two first.

The quest for earning money is not finished yet, what we want to attain is to have a semi automated tweeting after you gain massive amounts of followers. What we want to do now is to schedule our tweets automatically, we don’t want to spend most of our time posting tweets for long hours! that’s super time consuming. Here comes FutureTweets.com, FutureTweets automates your tweeting so that you can tweet even if you’re away from your computer. Whewwww!!! Now put the tweets that you want to share with your friends and relax, you can now wait for the cash to rise. Before I end this post I have to say one more thing, Keep your tweet count below 200 per day. Twitter is getting strict to people who use their service to earn bucks, you might get penalize and start all over again. And lastly your followers are getting smart, think of them as your customers and tweet like a normal person do. What I mean is have a mixture of normal tweets and money-making tweets. Be creative and appealing to your followers by providing them tweets with a mixture of normal ones like “I’m starving can’t wait to eat my favorite menu for today ” or something like “This is a must see picture of Meagan Fox” or something they’ll love to interact to like this “This site can show you the face of your baby just by putting your pic and your partner’s pic”. You must provide them something interesting and it will backfire to you when you provided them your money making links. Just remember they are your customers and they hate spam. Use your account like a normal one and retweet as possible if you are online and have nothing to do. Maintain a good list of followers and consider the 5 phenomenal twitter applications I wrote in this blog to aide you in your account management.

If you’ve been looking for some blogs that allow your adsense ads to run in their platform there’s a few sites that offers that kind of service without your account getting banned. There are many blog hosting services nowadays but many of them doesn’t allow you to monetize your content. Suck though! Anyway I tested several of this platforms and you can register to it without having much problems.

1. Blogspot – This is my all time favorite in terms of free hosting. You can easily integrate your adsense code in your blog because of it’s easy interface. Managing and configuring the looks of the ads is very simple to do because of widgets. Just drag and drop and you can alter the position instantly.

2. Tumblr – Tumblr just like blogspot is also one of my favorite blogging platform. Aside from quick posting and ease of use, You don’t need to worry anything. But putting adsense ads has some complexities behind it. Anyway it’s still a good blogging platform that allows adsense ads to run in your blog, Here’s a tutorial i digged out on how to add adsense codes in your blog. You need a little html/css background but it’s worth learning it.

3. I.ph – You probably do not know this blogging platform but I.ph is one heck of a blog. It runs using Calliope CMS and it’s one of the blogs that can rival blogger when it comes to user-friendliness. Adding adsense is very easy to and you don’t need to tweak any codes just to add one. You only need your publisher I.d. and you’re done.

4. Weebly – Weebly is not a blog but a site creator. It’s one that you call WYSIWYG site makers if you want to make professional looking websites. Although Weebly is a site creator you can also make a blog inside your site. Other than that you can make static pages and widgets. Adding adsense ads is also easy but the drawback is that you’ll be having shared revenue to weebly.

5. Yola – Thesame as weebly, another site creator which is very similar to weebly’s feature.

6. Squidoo – Your pages are called Lens in which you can expand and customize. You cannot add adsense to your Squidoo lens but you can set it up in such a way that you and squidoo will share revenues with their ads. The share is 50/50 and traffic is really high if you have nice content.

7. Hubpages – Hubpages are really hot these days and people use it too advertise because of high traffic probability. The concept of hubpages are very similar to squidoo, the only difference is that your pages are called Hubs. Adding adsense code is done by yourself and it’s relatively easy but you have to understand that you and hubpages share adspace so you might see your adsense ads or hubpages’ own ads.

If you are having some ideas on making a blog like railscasts (which I really really like) and you’ve got no place to start on how you can do some screencasting then I totally suggest Screentoaster to be the place to start in your screencasting journey. First and foremost I’ll totally vote for Screentoaster as my #1 pick in making videos in your desktop because of it’s simplicity of bringing home-brewed tutorials and videos to your readers. Unlike those available tools you’ll see on the net ScreenToaster is very simple and easy to learn. It has the basic features that you need in starting your screencast and it’s absolutely free. In Screentoaster you can add audio to your videos which is lacking to some of the free tools you’ll find on the net.

The size of the video you made is very minimal since it is in .flv format which you can covert to wmv if you have plans in doing so. You can download the videos you made after you recorded it if you want to store it in your hard drives. It offers unlimited space in storing your videos to your account and the chance to promote it to the community. The videos you made is embeddable with options of setting it to private or public, just use the embed code and you can share it to anyone you like. You can also setup the space in which part of the screen can be recorded so you’ll have no worries to the clutters of your desktop. The only problem that I see with Screen Toaster is that the youtube migration of your videos can only be done once you finished making the video and you’ve got no opportunity of migrating it if the video is stored in your account. But still you can enjoy the full features the site offers absolutely free. Screentoaster is not an application that you can download, you can enjoy the things mentioned by visiting the Screen Toaster’s site and signup for an account.

If you are having trouble on keeping up to date to the latest news on your favorite site then of course you gotta use the RSS feed of it. The only thing you have to do is use those free RSS aggregators around like Google reader, bloglines, etc. Now the problem is that you’ll be visiting those sites once in a while, checking if there’s something new. If you are the typical news fanatic who’s not that patient to not keeping up to date or the kind of a guy who’s playing mmorpgs waiting for the coolest item to be released in the game then SharpReader is the application that you should be keeping in your arsenal.

The simplicity of the application is just phenomenal. Just input the feed address and do some litte configurations then you can sit and relax. The only thing that doesn’t work for this one is that it only works in the Windows platform. You can freely download it at Luke Hutteman’s site and If you want to know some of it’s features here’s a list of it.

Handles all RSS versions, ATOM 0.3 and 1.0, modules like dublin core, content:encoding, xhtml:body, etc.

Advanced threading support allowing you to view connected items together in a threaded fashion. SharpReader detects and shows connections between items if they have same link, if one item links to another, if two items both link to the same external webpage, or if an item has comments (for feeds supporting the
standard).

Group subscribed feeds into custom categories.

Feed settings like refresh-rate and purge timeout can be set per feed or per category. Category-wide settings apply to all feeds in that category that are still set to “Default” for the setting in question.

Dialog-less way of subscribing to new feeds – just drag a link from your browser into SharpReader, or enter the url into the address-bar at the top.

Feedster integration to easily search weblogs and newssites for specific terms, and even subscribe to such a search to be notified of new results.

Support for proxy-servers and proxy authentication.

Reduces bandwidth by using HTTP Conditional GETs and gzip/deflate encoding.

Minimizes to the system-tray.

Systray popup when new items arrive (can be disabled on a per-feed or per-category basis through the properties pane).

Easy keyboard navigation to go the next or previous unread item.

Import and export your subscriptions using OPML.

Filter items.

International Character-set support.

HTTP Authentication support.
